About Me And My Kittens

I was introduced to my first Ragdoll in 1990. My grandfather had had a stroke and his neighbor had a bi-color seal with mitts. The neighbor was moving and gave "Coonie" to my grandfather. Coonie bonded with my grandfather as did my grandfather bonded with Coonie. I saw her for the first time in 1992 when I went to Florida for a visit and fell in love with the breed. Finally in 2013, I decided to start breeding Ragdolls. I named the cattery "Havilands Heavenly Blue Eyed Dolls" in honor of my grandfather and Coonie.

Here is a little about my cattery: My Queens have full run of my home. My studs are housed at my grooming salon where they get plenty of attention. When my Queens give birth, they have a private room to give them the utmost peace and quiet to raise their kittens. At 6 weeks, the kittens begin getting groomed. This includes bathing, blow dried, nails trimmed, ears cleaned and brushed. This gets the kittens used to the grooming process at an early age.

At 9 weeks, the kittens receive their first shots and worming. At this age, the kittens begin to go with me to the grooming salon every day. I feel this is a great way to socialize the kittens with other people and familiarize them with different sites and sounds. This also gets them used to riding in a vehicle. At the end of the day, they return home where they get used to household noises like TV, washing machine, dishwasher etc. The kittens from us get acquainted with living around small and large dogs, fish, birds and other cats. I do this socializing with many different types of situations to give you a well rounded kitten.

At 12 weeks, the kittens go to my vet for a wellness check. Also at 12 weeks, I give them the last series of kitten vaccines and wormings. At this point, the kittens are ready for their forever homes. I sell my kittens at 12 weeks - Ragdolls are a slow maturing cat. Between 8 and 12 weeks, the kittens learn a lot from their mother and siblings.
